Mission & History
Bodhi Work's Mission
At Bodhi Work, our mission is to provide the Ann Arbor community with high-quality, dependable massage therapy services. We believe that reliable care comes from dedicated Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) who are fairly compensated and passionate about their craft. That's why we pay our LMTs a competitive, livable wage—45-60% of the revenue from each appointment—compared to the industry standard of just 25% at many commercial chains.
The prices for our sessions at Valor are set to ensure consistency and stability for our LMTs, allowing them to focus on delivering the best possible care. Additionally, a portion of our funds goes towards supporting the professional growth of our therapists by offering financial reimbursement for continuing education. By investing in our LMTs' development, we create a sustainable, high-quality service that benefits both our therapists and the community.
Bodhi Work's History
Bodhi Work was founded by Samantha Oetting (SNO) in December 2020 as a solo Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) business. Inspired by her passion for massage therapy, Samantha aimed to provide specialized services, particularly Thai Massage, which was underrepresented in the Ann Arbor area. As demand grew, she expanded Bodhi Work, creating a supportive environment for other LMTs. The studio’s philosophy centers on holistic well-being, offering a space for rejuvenation and connection, while emphasizing fair compensation and continued professional development for its therapists.
